Jeb Bush Brings Hope to Black Voters! Why Diction Matters.

One Thursday, Jeb Bush said he wanted to provide black voters with "hope and aspiration", not "free stuff". A white man from South Carolina was the asker of the question, and Jeb's reply was that his message was that anyone can achieve earned success. This was akin to Mitt Romney's opinion in the 2012 presidential race. Romney was booed of the stage at an N.A.A.C.P conference after he said he would shun any voters who just wanted "free stuff". Because wolf this conference, Mitt Rommey won only 6 percent of the black vote.

Jeb Bush's reply to this man was indeed a very smart move. He said virtually the same thing Mitt Romeny said, but with a key difference. Jeb's diction kept him safe, because he stayed away from clearly negative words. When Mitt Romeny said that he would shun voters who wanted "free stuff" he didn't think clearly and carefully about using the word shun. Plus, Romney did not offer and shed of light in what seemed like a terrible future for potential black voters. Jeb Bush saw Romney's mistake, so he decided to take Romeny's opinion, but also put a positive twist on it. This intelligent move may give Jeb a huge lead in the race.
